This year the Club is aiming to promote two open 10 mile Time Trials and an open Hill Climb.
The usual Club evening series of Time Trials has been planned with eight 10 mile, one 15 mile, one 20 mile and of course a Hill Climb at the end of the season, an interclub 25 miler has also been scheduled as we are hoping that the PTTL will go ahead this year between the local clubs.
We have tried to foresee as many problems as possible and have alternative courses in place in case of roadworks etc, unfortunately we still have not managed to gain control over the weather, however, we did manage a full programme of Club evening events last year.
Due to the CTT increasing the levies that are imposed upon us the Club has had to increase entry fees this year, these have been kept to a minimum as we have managed to absorb the increase in the cost of Hall hire for Race HQ’s.
The entry fees for 2019 Club events will be £6 per ride for all riders over the age of 18 and £4 per ride for all riders under 18.
In order to be able to run these events we need a team of Timekeepers and helpers, each event normally requires 2 – 3 Timekeepers, 1 sign on and results person, 1 scruteneer/marshal, 1 pusher, 1 number caller and an additional marshal.
Although we do have a team of regular helpers we are currently down on numbers, this includes a senior Timekeeper, if anyone is interested in become timekeeper information and of course assistance is readily available.
I would especially ask any Racing or Ex Racing members who are not currently competing to put something back into such a rewarding sport and enable the next generation of riders to benefit from your experience.
If you are able to help please get in touch with the Time Trial Organiser or any committee member.
Please come along and give Time Trialing a go, you may even enjoy it, the Club evening events are a good introduction to this element of the sport and you will be encouraged and supported by other likeminded members.
